Nuclear Systems Materials Handbook SS-316 Creep Update

Thermal and irradiation creep for protypic heats of 20 percent cold worked SS AISI 316 Nuclear Systems Materials Handbook Revision 5

Description

NuclearSystemsMaterialsHandbookSS316CreepUpdate computes the steady state creep (sum of thermal and irradiation creep) using the following equations, which come from the Nuclear Systems Materials Handbook (Marchbanks et al., 1972) for 20 percent Cold Worked 316 Stainless Steel.

(1) The parameters for the model are given in Table 1.

Table 1: Parameters for the SS316 20 percent cold worked creep model

ParametersValues
, percent per sec

In Eq. 1 is the neutron flux (10 n/cm-s), is fluence (10 n/cm), is the temperature (K), is the effective stress (Pa), and is the effective thermal and irradiation creep strain rate (1/s).
