Nicrofer3033 Thermal Expansion Eigenstrain

Calculates eigenstrain due to linear thermal expansion in Nicrofer3033, or Alloy 33, cladding using a constant thermal expansion coefficient

Description

This class calculates strain due to thermal expansion for the Nicrofer3033 cladding material. Nicrofer3033, also known as Alloy 33, is a face-centered cubic austenitic steel with 0.4% N, 31% Ni, and 33% Cr. With data from the IFR Property Evaluation Working Group (1988) and the Material Data Sheet No. 4042, this class calculates the linear thermal expansion as: (1) where is the current temperature (K) and is the stress free temperature (K).

The Material Data Sheet No. 4042 gives the approved operating temperature range for this material in pressure vessel applications as 77 K to 723 K.

Example Input Syntax

[./thermal_expansion]
type = Nicrofer3033ThermalExpansionEigenstrain
temperature = temperature
stress_free_temperature = 200.0
eigenstrain_name = thermal_expansion

The eigenstrain_name parameter value must also be set for the strain calculator, and an example parameter setting in the Tensor Mechanics Master Action is shown below:

[./TensorMechanics]
[./Master]
[./all]
strain = SMALL
incremental = true
